After a few days on the busy Bahamian capital island of Nassau, landing on the San Andros airstrip was a bit of a change of pace. Here on Andros, "soon" means, sometime in the near future, perhaps in the next few days, weeks or years. It certainly does not imply imminence!
I am sure blog readers are aware of a few of the defining points of working on Andros, but I will give an executive summary:
-People: friendly
-Weather: Fluctuates wildly between very hot and very wet
-Land Animals: vertebrates generally friendly, invertebrates generally annoying.
-Flying animals: vertebrates exotic, invertebrates blood-hungry
-Watery animals: exotic and quite cool
-Speciality food: Land Crab and Conch...basically anything that cant run faster than a light saunter.
-Plants: have issues...
-Landscape: beyond beautiful!
